UNSOUND PRO 2007 UPDATE

Hey all , here is an update on the 2007 Unsound Pro , we are set to another exciting event. This year we have raised the 1st place prize money to $11,000.00, yes I said eleven thousand dollars. Total mens pro prize money will be $25,000.00 . We also shortened the waiting period by 1 day , as we did not want to conflict with 9-11 and any memorials that may be going on. That said the dates will be from september 12th -16th (wed-sun). We are proud to say that Oakley is still the presenting sponsor of this event. Other sponsors include Red Bull, Gravity Skateboards , Cannibal Surfboards and Unsound Surf… We also have a JR pro that is for 19yrs and younger , that will feature a $2,500 purse. To win that you will have to knock off last years winner Local super-grom and Unsound Team rider Balarom Stack.

For those who have not been to an Unsound event, we run much like an ASP WQS event. In the past we have been a sanctioned event , but the past few years we have decided not to sanction the event in order to bump up the prize money, why give it to the ASP when we can give it to the surfers.. This years event will have electronic scoring by “beachbyte” the same company who provides the scoring for the WCT/WQS events. Also we will have many of the same judges you are used to seeing at the other WQS event up and down the east coast.

To enter you can go to unsoundsurf.com , on your left you will see a button that says “unsound pro” click it , then click “register here”. That will direct you to our paypal site where you can choose your division. The Mens pro will cost $150 and the Jr pro $100. In the notes please state the name of the person that will be surfing in the event , and what event they will be surfing in. If you want to register by mail you can do that as well , send a check to Unsound Surf 359 East Park ave Long Beach N.Y. 11561. Please enclose a note with the name of the surfer and the division. All entries must be received ( and paid in full) by September 5th.
