Union Square Street Sessions / Main Event

Any excuse to pile into the WORD van, rage irish punk music, tell ridiculous stories and generally have a killer time at an event is a good excuse. Union Square provided the setting, the athletes and the action to bring snowboarding to the masses in NYC. Thousands came out to show their support for the sport, akwardly gawk or grab copies of issues 10-12. We ran out in about 12 seconds once the gates opened. Melissa, Jim, Tyler, Jon Coen, Ann Coen, Tommy Snapwater and I were all in attendance. Particular thanks to Burton for N’East team jackets, Jack Flemming for an unreal event and all of the people that have subscribed, newslettered or shot us emails of support. You guys rock. Ryan and I attended the Main Event finals at Waterville Valley Sunday only to be met by the full onslaught of Mother Winter. Who took the cookies? Mom’s pissed and she let it out on us. Finals turned into a railjam to decide the $1000 purse. Mucho thanks to Wendy from Dekal for a much needed event series (and rib dinner) that had an awesome turnout despite the weather.

On a down side I lost about $200 worth of memory cards in a small black wallet. If you found these please mail them to the mag with an abundance of small, unmarked bills. Seriously though, mail them please. You’ll be my best friend and I will shower you with Schwag.
